Fever
Fever is an abnormally elevated body temperature that can be caused by an infection or other underlying illnesses. Normal body temperature is around 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Adults with a low-grade temperature are between 98.7 to 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures above this range are considered high. Oral or forehead thermometers are both reliable for monitoring a fever patient’s temperature. For fevers, you can use fever reducers available over the counter. You can also apply a damp towel to your forehead. A tepid sponge bath or a fan can be comforting for some patients. The doctors recommend that people with fevers drink more fluids than usual. Adults who have a temperature of 103 degrees or more should see a doctor. Patients should also visit an emergency room or urgent care facility if they experience a fever in conjunction with chest pain, disorientation or vomiting.
