3. Less Heartburn
Heartburn is painful. This can happen as a result of eating right before bedtime, since a prone posture may make it easier for stomach acid to reach your esophagus. Scientists have discovered that sleeping on the left side minimizes heartburn, while sleeping on the other can make it worse.
The stomach is located on the left-side of our body. The junction between the stomach and the esophagus stays higher when we lie on our left. The lower esophageal muscle is more relaxed on the right side. This can allow acid to enter.
