4. Supports the Lymphatic System
The lymphatic system consists of a network vessels that transport a fluid known as lymph. This system is important for moving fluids throughout the body and in maintaining our immune function. A blockage in the lymphatic system can lead to poor health because it is able to carry toxins and waste products away.
Long ago, it was believed that sleeping on the right side of the body helped the lymphatic system remove waste. The thoracic canal drains lymph to the left, so this position allows gravity to assist in a natural bodily process.
