The First Year
Steve’s mobility was severely restricted and he spent a year in both hospitals and nursing homes. The first year of his life was probably the most difficult. He couldn’t do anything on his own.
Loss of Independence
Steve must have felt a lot of pressure to suddenly go from an active person to one who is immobile. Steve, who was a highly independent and active person, felt that his freedom had been taken from him when he became less self-sufficient.
