NASA has ways to take control of key systems if consoles on a ship or space station stop working. If there was a serious problem, such as massive damage to oxygen tanks, they would not be able to prepare a shuttle to save the crew.
In the best-case scenario, this operation would turn into a mission for retrieving the bodies. The massive space station didn’t contact them for that reason. Why did the crew of the space station seem so worried?
