The Milky Way meets the Sahara Desert
This picture shows a cluster which is the Milky Way’s outer edges in the background. Astronauts noticed the Earth was a sand-orange color from this angle. This is because they were high above Africa’s Sahara Desert. The orange color was intensified when the sun’s light reflected off the sand and hit the planet. They also saw other beautiful things while orbiting Earth.
