15. Grady Calls for a Day
Grady radioed to request a tow truck for Roland’s vehicle. He could feel the man’s eyes on him, as if they were stuck like glue.
The man extended his hand and said “I’m Roland Redding.” The hands of the man were cool and dry, despite his facial sweat.
“I know. Grady Roberts, I am the Sheriff,” Grady responded. It was a pleasure to meet you. We will help you on your way. “My deputy told me that you were only passing through.”
16. Grady asks some questions
Roland replied, “I wouldn’t have said that.” “I am retired, so I like to drive around.”
Grady asked, “On a Monday? In a two piece suit?” It seemed like you were on your way somewhere. Marianne gently nudged him. He couldn’t stop himself. He could hear suspicion in his voice, and Roland’s dark eyes told him that he was offended.
The man spoke smoothly. “Never is there a good reason to not dress well,” he said. He smiled with an open-mouthed, strange grin, revealing dark yellow teeth.
