55. Roland Has A Briefcase
As he spoke, he held a briefcase with his left hand.
“I promised you that I would show you great things in my role as your new minister.” Did he make such a promise? Grady wondered.
“I will deliver.” I’ll jump right in; I know there is a lot to do. Butch, would you please?” Butch stood up, opened the briefcase’s lid, and held it out. It contained shiny silver objects which reflected sunlight.
56. Johnny Cash starts singing
Grady turned his attention to the briefcase and noticed the glowing silver light. The radio then came on. He rode into a cow town with a smile on his lips.
Grady put his foot up in the air and turned off Cash’s song. Grady was jolted out of his fog as the sudden boom from the radio woke him up. He had been staring at Roland’s shiny metallic objects. He put his sunglasses on after fumbling around in the dashboard. The world grew darker.
He felt a bit better. He didn’t look at the briefcase while Roland was speaking.
