31. Grady Says OK
Grady and Roland locked eyes again. Grady had a strange feeling, as if Roland was forcing something on him through his gaze. Grady shook the head twice and said “If anyone minds, I suppose.” Keep it short, though. It’s getting late.
The man’s face was tinged with irritation. Roland walked up to the podium and nodded.
Grady could see the eyes of his audience watching him as he moved.
32. Grady is concerned
Butch looked at Roland like a child staring at its father, and Arlene was watching him as a wife in love.
What is the hell going on? Grady pondered this as he stood aside to let Roland speak. Grady, something’s wrong.
Grady was born and raised in Merriview. He then shuffled away to fight in Gulf War. Grady had seen and done much, and knew when there was something wrong.
