17.Shrink Your Dishes
If you choose a 10-inch plate for lunch instead of a 12 inch dinner plate, you will automatically eat less. Brian Wansink PhD from Cornell found that in tests after tests, people ate more and served more food when using larger dishes. Reduce the size of your bowl or plate to save 100-200 calories per day, and up to 10-20 pounds a year. Wansink found that no one noticed or felt hungry when 200 calories were shaved off their daily diet using tricks of the eyes.
18.How to Measure Food Portions Correctly
Slim people have a habit of eating modest portions every day, at least five days a weeks. According to a Consumer Reports study, “always slim” people and successful losers alike do this. It can become automatic after a few measurements. You can make it easier by using small “snack packs” and keeping the serving dishes away from the table during mealtime.
19.The 80-20 Rule
Americans are taught to eat until you’re full, but Okinawan residents eat until 80% of their stomach is filled. This naturally slimming practice is called hara hachibu. According to Brian Wansink PhD, we can adopt this healthy habit if we eat 20% less. According to his studies, most people do not miss it.
