Liverpool, the port city in England, is best known as the birthplace to The Beatles. But it has now added a new chapter to its musical history.
The city is the host of Eurovision 2020. This song extravaganza brings thousands of flag waving fans to the country. This annual event gives the city a chance to recover after was stripped from its UNESCO World Heritage Status in 2021.
The city will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Liverpool Biennialcontemporary Visual Arts Festival in June as more than thirty international artists and collectives occupy spaces throughout the city from June until September.
In 2023, England will also celebrate the Year of the Coast with beach clean-ups and food festivals. Crosby Beach, just a half-hour train ride from Liverpool’s city center, is home to the permanent “Another Place” of sculptor Antony Gormley.
