Mustang Valley, Nepal
The stunning Mustang Valley in Nepal is famous for its mountain trekking along ancient trade routes that used to connect the Himalayas with India. It’s also located on the doorstep of Tibet.
In the months to come, you’ll hear more about this remote location thanks to the upcoming Shinta Mani Mustang. This all-inclusive resort, part of the Bensley Collection and perched above Jomsom town in Lower Mustang, will offer luxury travelers 29 suites based on traditional Tibetan homes.
Mustang is a great place to explore Buddhist monasteries and ancient villages. The man-made Mustang Caves, located above the Gandaki River, are also worth a visit. They contain 2,000-year old Buddhist paintings and sculptures.
The journey to Mustang Valley is a part of the adventure. The 25-minute flight to Pokhara, then a 20-minute trip to Jomsom will be required for travelers. Some people may prefer this option over the 12-hour drive to Kathmandu because of the views. KC
