2. Unprotected oral sex
Sexual acts that are not protected can also increase your risk of bacterial vaginosis. Unprotected oral sex may also increase the risk of bacterial vaginosis. Although it doesn’t present the same symptoms as BV, BV can be easily carried in the mouth. It can then be transmitted via genital-oral contacts.
Even though bacterial vaginosis is not considered a sexually-transmitted disease, your risk for contracting or spreading the condition increases.
When you notice the first symptoms of a condition such as BV, stop all unprotected sex. This should continue until the condition is diagnosedand properly treated and the symptoms subside. Remember that bacterial vaginitis is not the only condition which can be transmitted in this manner. Other conditions may have similar symptoms.
