Century Egg
Century Egg is also known as thousand-year egg, millennium egg, hundred-year egg, and millennium eggs. It’s a Chinese preserved eggs product that’s made by processing duck or chicken eggs with a combination of clay, ash salt, quicklime and rice hulls. The process can take several weeks or months.
The yolk will become dark, creamy and have a strong flavor. The white of the egg turns into a dark brown jelly with a salty taste. These eggs are often called Songhua eggs, pine flower eggs, or pine-patterned eggs. They have patterns that look like pine branches.
San-nakji
Sannakjiis a Korean octopus recipe. Most commonly, the octopuses will be killed and then cut up into small pieces before they are served. The nerve activity of the tentacles in the octopus can cause the pieces to move on the plate after death.
This dish is less common, and the octopus will be served alive and whole, with sesame seed and sesame oil.
