Vegemite consists of a dark brown, thick spread that is made with leftover brewers yeast extract and various spice and vegetable additives. Vegemite is made from the leftover brewers yeast extract that they usually throw away. It’s salty, malty and slightly bitter. It’s also rich in glutamates which give it a umami taste like beef bouillon.
This spread can be found in Australia and other countries.
Wasp Crackers
Wasp Crackers, made in Omachi in Japan, are rice crackers that contain 5 to 6 black diggers per cracker. You can definitely see the wasps.
Balut
Balut street food is common in China and Southeast Asian countries. The Filipino word balut refers to a developing fertilized egg embryo which is boiled in its shell and eaten. Incubation usually takes between 14-21 days.
The Balut embryo will be more developed and the characteristics of the duckling will become recognizable when the eggs are incubated for a longer period.
