10. Muscle Mass
Did you know that saunas can lead to increased muscle mass, both directly and indirectly?
Sitting in the sauna following a workout is often enough for many to justify that workout. The result is that they are more likely to visit the gym. The sauna can increase this factor, which we call ‘adherence.’ This will improve muscle tone. By increasing your aerobic capacity you can train harder and for longer, and therefore get a better workout!
It also improves muscleperformance. This is partly due to an increase in growth hormone. Heat shock proteins are also responsible. The cells release these proteins in response to extreme temperatures (hence their name!). They regulate and control many functions in the body, including protein synthesis – a favorite of bodybuilders.
You’ll also improve your muscle mass , andhelps to keep you slimmer.
In short then, a sauna is such a powerful health and energy boost that some are now calling it the next ‘performance-enhancing hack’. Try it out and see how it makes you feel!
