3. The Mid-Follicular Phase
The levels of estradiol in the body start to rise during the early or middle follicular phases of a cycle. The follicles produce estrogen as they grow. Fluid production increases when estrogen levels rise. In the days following their period, most women don’t notice any discharge. Many women experience a period of dry fluids during this time. Some women, however, may experience a sticky fluid.
Most commonly, cervical fluid is noticeable in the middle of the phase. This occurs on day 7 of a 28-day cycle. It is normal for this fluid to be dry or sticky. This is due to the cervix preparing for the fertilization of an egg. The fluid and discharge are the body’s preparation for a possible pregnancy.
